Indicative market-reference rate — not a jeweller's buying or selling quote. Sourced from market feeds; city figures are estimates of local premiums. See our disclaimer for how often rates update.

24K gold is 99.9% pure and is used for coins and bars. 22K gold is 91.6% pure (the rest is alloy metals for hardness) and is the standard for jewellery in India.
The gold rate per gram is derived from the international gold spot price (USD per troy ounce) converted to Indian rupees using the current USD/INR exchange rate, then adjusted for purity (24K, 22K, 18K) and local city premiums.
GoldNexa tracks gold and silver rates against live market feeds and keeps the USD/INR exchange rate updated through the day, so the displayed price stays current.
A quick guide to the numbers on this page: what each purity means, what moves the rate through the day, and what to check before you buy.
The rate above is a reference rate per gram, built from the international spot price plus import duty and the day's rupee-dollar rate. It updates through the day while international markets trade. When you walk into a jeweller, their board is this same rate plus a premium and their making charge — so the number to compare between shops is never the rate itself, which barely differs, but the making charge and any wastage they add.
24K (99.9% pure) is the investment grade — coins, bars and gold funds track it. 22K (91.6%) is jewellery grade: alloyed with harder metals so a setting holds its shape. 18K (75%) is used for studded and diamond-set pieces. If you are comparing prices across purities, the honest comparison is per-gram-of-pure-gold, which our calculator does for you.
